Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if counseling is right for me?
People come to counseling for many reasons—stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, major life changes, or simply wanting personal growth. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck, talking with a therapist can help you gain clarity and support.
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is a conversation focused on understanding your goals and what brought you to therapy. We’ll review your background, discuss confidentiality, and begin to identify what support will be most helpful. It’s also an opportunity for you to see if we’re the right fit.
How long does counseling take?
Session frequency and duration vary depending on your needs and goals. Some people benefit from short-term, solution-focused therapy, while others prefer ongoing support. We can decide together what timeline makes sense for you.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential except in rare situations involving safety concerns or legal requirements. These limits will be fully explained before we begin.
Do you accept insurance?
Currently, we do not accept insurance, medicaid or medicare. We do, however, offer a sliding scale for those who qualify and provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance. Please check with your provider about your mental health benefits and reimbursements for private pay counseling services.
What are your rates for therapy?
Rates vary based on the type of service and session length but most sessions are $150 for individual sessions and $200 for couples for 50-minute session. Sliding-scale options may be available for those with financial need and proof of income.
Do you offer online or virtual sessions?
Yes. Secure telehealth sessions are available for clients who live in Colorado and who prefer to meet from home or have busy schedules. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns.
How do I choose the right counselor?
The most important factor is feeling comfortable and understood. Look for a therapist whose experience matches your needs and whose style feels like a good fit. We offer a brief consultation so you can decide with confidence and offer Christian counseling for those who desire faith based sessions.
What issues can therapy help with?
Life Artistry Counseling supports you in the following areas:
Anxiety, depression, and stress
Trauma and life transitions
Relationship or family difficulties
Infidelity
Grief and loss
Adults struggling with childhood sexual trauma
Personal growth, self-esteem, and boundary-setting
If you’re unsure whether your concern fits, feel free to ask.
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a focused, brain-body psychotherapy developed by David Grand in 2003. It is based on the observation that “where you look affects how you feel.” During a Brainspotting session, the therapist helps identify a specific eye position—or brainspot—that appears connected to an emotional experience, body sensation, memory, or symptom. Maintaining focus on that spot while staying attuned to thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations can support the brain’s natural processing and healing capacities.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting does not rely primarily on analysis or storytelling. Instead, it combines focused mindfulness, body awareness, and a strong therapeutic relationship to access experiences that may be difficult to reach through words alone. The approach is often used in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, grief, performance blocks, and stress-related symptoms.
